Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS) Features

The innovative features of Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS) keep Melfort drivers and alike safe while out on the road. These systems include:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) is designed to help detect a vehicle or pedestrian, providing an audio/visual forward-collision warning if the circumstance calls for it. If the driver doesn’t react, the system will provide automatic emergency braking. Depending on the available system, bicyclists or motorists may also be detected under specific circumstances.
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: The Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is an adaptive cruise control system intended for highway use. It utilizes vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you. It’s also available with Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
  • Lane Departure Alert: When white/yellow lane markings are detected at speeds within the systems operating range, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) is will issue an audio/visual lane departure warning when an inadvertent lane departure. It’s also available with Steering Assist.
  • Automatic High Beams: Automatic High Beams (AHB) are designed to help you see more clearly at night when speeds are above 21 mph. The AHB system is designed to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, automatically toggling between high and low beams accordingly.
  • Lane Tracing Assist: When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is enabled and lane markers are visible, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) will use the lines on the road and/or preceding vehicles to provide active driving assistance, helping keep the vehicle centered and in its lane. This feature is available on the TSS 2.0, TSS 2.5, TSS. 2.5+ and TSS 3.0 equipped vehicles. It’s also available with Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) on TSS 3.0 equipped vehicles.
  • Proactive Driving Assist: When system operating conditions are met, using the vehicle’s camera and radar, Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) provides gentle braking into curves or gentle braking and/or steering to help support driving tasks. This includes things like distance control between your vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian, or bicyclist. This features is available on certain TSS 3.0-equipped vehicles.
